Peaceful Piggy Meditation by Kerry Lee MacLean is a beautiful picture book that is a lovely resource for you and your children. This sweet story with expressive, colorful illustrations introduces the concept of meditation in a accessible, kid-friendly way. I am particularly fond of the book because the author presents the practice of meditation as a tool for social and emotional well being. You will also find easy meditation instructions, a "mind-in-a-jar experiment" and guidelines for family meditation. Peaceful Piggy Meditation is a must for your personal library!

The Whole-Brain Child
Did you know that you have an "upstairs brain" and a "downstairs brain"? In The Whole Brain Child, Dan Siegel & Tina Payne Bryson refer to temper tantrums as "flipping your lid"! This is a wonderfully accessible resource to help parents of young children navigate the slippery slope of social and emotional learning. It is a very easy and enjoyable read that synthesizes current brain research with best practices for both parenting and teaching our children. I highly recommend it as an essential resource. Our kids didn't come with an instruction manual but his might be the next best thing!
